A Poem for my 10 Pounds
Dear Pounds,
I kept you at bay for most of my years.
With swim practices and egg white omelettes.
But now you want to be with me in my late 20's.
And you are not invited.
There is no room for you in my apartment.
I have no extra shower towel for you.
You are not invited.
But you know who is?
Whole wheat bread and Fage Yogurt. And Oatmeal and Bananas.
Wait…
That’s too many carb things. Maybe just Yogurt and Bananas.
O 4pm Doughnut, O Coffee with Half & Half.
We’ve had some good times…daily, in fact. But it’s over now.
O Greasy Pizza on Broadway, we were never good together.
O Chinese Food place on 8th avenue! I love you…but
I’m not IN love with you.
This is the year I'm going to enter a run-swim-run.
And I feel that I should do it alone.
I would like to do a triathalon...
But I'm afraid to ride a bike in the city...
of crashing into the fruit stands ...
and mowing down hipsters...

It was so neck-and-neck with 2Legit2Quit and both contestants showed such exceptional creativity and persistence in their updates that we’re going to award a special consolation prize to 2Legit2Quit: a month’s worth (30) of Super-Charged Plates from The Pump so she can continue pursuing her personal challenge.
